About Me

I was born and raised in Cleveland Heights, OH. I am a proud product of public schools and want to devote my life to improving them. I am currently in my fourth-year at The Ohio Sate University where I am pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education that will certify me to teach Pre-Kindergarten-3rd Grade in the State of Ohio. Outside of education, my passions include leadership and sports.

Teaching Philosophy
"Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela
My biggest passion in life is to eliminate inequality in education. A desire to advocate for all children is what drove me to the profession of teaching. I may not always be able to control what happens outside of the classroom, but I can ensure my students have equal opportunities to learn skills and concepts necessary to be successful inside the classroom, no matter their background. As a teacher, I have the honor of serving as a resource and a witness to students endless discoveries.

Educational Experience
What I’ve Learned
I have been fortunate enough to learn various 21st Century Learning skills through a number of courses as a pre-service teacher that I am able to directly apply to my future classroom. Below is a sample of some of the 21st Century Learning projects I have completed to date and plan on utilizing in my future classroom.
QR Code Transmedia Poster
Using Google Slides, I made a transmedia poster about five significant women in history: Annie Oakley, Sally Ride, Marie Curie, Elizabeth Blackwell, and Rosa Parks. I created QR codes that lead to videos, articles, and blogs about each woman.
Caine's Arcade Challenge
Inspired by now 15-year-old Caine Monroy who built his own arcade from cardboard boxes, I participated in the Caine's Arcade Challenge and made a 3-in-1 portable sports arena using a cardboard computer box, popsicle sticks, marbles, thumbtacks, and tape.
Straw Tower Project
In what has been utilized in fields from team building activities to physics lesson, the straw tower project utilizes plastic straws, popsicle sticks, tape, and paperclips in order to build the tallest tower that can freely stand while weighted washers are stacked on top. My group's structure was not only the tallest, but successfully held over 22 washers!

Subject Areas
Below are a sample of the lessons, rubrics, and assessments I created that cater to my certification level (Pre-Kindergarten-3rd Grade in the State of Ohio). Each of these projects have been used in an elementary school classroom. If any of these projects appeal to you and/or you would like to learn more about it, please reach out to me via email or phone.

Spring 2018
Guided Reading and Read Aloud Lesson Plan
I had the opportunity to work 1-on-1 with a first grade student in a local elementary school. I created guided reading lessons, writing lessons, read-aloud lessons, and conducted a running record with them every week. I really enjoyed working with my student and would love to discuss it with you in more detail. Click the link below to see one of the guided reading and read aloud lessons I planned for my student.

Spring 2018
Performance Assessment and Rubric
This semester I learned about, discussed, and created various forms of assessment. One assessment I created was a performance assessment and rubric for the research project I worked on with my individual student. This project was designed to create a task around writing and to develop an analytic rubric that can be used to grade the performance assessment. Click the link below to check it out.

Spring 2018
Observational Checklist and Math Lesson
I also had the opportunity this spring to work 1-on-1 with a second grade student in a local elementary school. I created weekly math lessons for them that utilized multiple math skills through various practice problems. I catered the lessons to my student's interests and included names, places, and events that I knew were familiar to her. Using what I learned about assessment, I created an observational checklist with corresponding practice problems to assess my student's knowledge of skills required by certain standards. Click the link below to check out my observational checklist with corresponding math lesson.

Literacy Through Media Lesson Plans
Incorporating 21st Century Learning into Today's Classroom
After having the book Aaron and Alexander: The Most Famous Duel in American History read aloud to them, students will have the opportunity to further explore this infamous relationship through the use of role play using a green screen video, using Symbaloo to create a Learning Path about the two men, and making a QR Code Transmedia poster that will include their green screen video, Symbaloo Learning Path, and further information about the men's political relationship.
